Actually, his words were:

When asked if he would be interested in appearing as Batman in a more comic book-oriented context, Bale noted, "It's like I was saying to Chris [Nolan] -- I'll be probably doing this in dinner theater somewhere in my 50s, so I won't knock it. Because who knows where I'll end up?"

So that could be taken a few ways I guess... I would think if he really didn't want to, he wouldn't...

The thing is.. it's all Comic book stuff. The movies make it feel more real, but when iut comes down to it, if it's done right, it can happen. Look at Wolverine and the X-Men (the first)

With the right people, it can work and be awesome.

JLA movie to start Q1 2008, IESB says

From the IESB site found here:
http://www.iesb.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3094&Itemid=99

Will the Justice League of America live action feature film ever get off the ground? Much sooner than you may expect!

When the news broke that JLA (Justice League of America) was moving forward with a script written by Kiernan and Michele Mulroney, speculations began that the follow-up to Superman Returns, The Man of Steel, would be delayed or even completely scrapped.

WB studio sources quickly said that was just mere speculation and The Man of Steel was still planned for a first quarter 2008 start date. Even recently, Brandon Routh told us the same thing during a quick red carpet interview at the premiere for Transformers.

At the same time, we are hearing some execs over WB were not happy with the way Superman Returns performed regardless of the $390 million plus worldwide box office take and that’s why Justice League is being pushed through the studio at a record pace.

The JLA script has been received with open arms by Warners and the goal is for the film to be the launching point for The Flash, Wonder Woman, The Green Lantern and Aquaman as well as rejuvenate Superman.

When do the powers-that-be want to start production on Justice League? Apparently, as soon as the first quarter of 2008, that’s right, WB sources have informed the IESB that execs behind the Justice League of America want it to be in production as early as February/March 2008 to be ready for a summer of 2009 release.

What’s the rush? The pending strikes are definitely one of the reasons that Warner Bros. wants to move quickly on the ensemble pic. They also want to start building a fan base behind the new heroes that will help them go on to have their own stand-alone films.

Some questions arise. What will happen to The Man of Steel film that Bryan Singer has already signed on to do? Would Warner Brothers be willing to lose the money they would have to pay to Singer regardless if he directs the film or not? Will Christian Bale and Brandon Routh reprise their roles as Batman and Superman?

Some rumors indicate that studio execs have considered recasting Superman and a few names have popped up. But the honest truth is that the studio just does not know at this time whether Routh will return or not. We’ll just have to wait and see.

And Batman? If Justice League starts production early ‘08 that would give Bale a three to five month break between “Batman” films. Would he do it? Would the production team behind the Batman films be accommodating? Would they allow one of their three-picture-options with Bale to be used on an ensemble film? Would Justice League be the last Batman film that Bale takes part in?

Those questions are the ones I have been trying to get answered but have not been able to get anyone to comment officially.

I want to be very clear about this, I want to see a JLA film very badly and I am pretty certain that George Miller will direct. The problem that I have is I can’t foresee the Nolan camp, including producer Charles Roven, to lose the third stand-alone Batman film by allowing Bale to JLA instead. Maybe Warners should bring a few of the Batman/TDK producers on board the JLA production to keep that camp happy.

Bottom line, the decision will come from Warner Bros., both Christian Bale and Brandon Routh are signed for a total of three films and one film can be an ensemble pic.

I have to wonder if they are willing to pay the huge amount of money to Bale to keep him for possible future JLA and Batman films. I definitely think he’s worth it but it’s not my checkbook.

Routh’s price tag is no where near Bale’s and I’d bet he’d be willing to do possible future JLA and Superman films.

Finally, what about Singer’s The Man of Steel? At this stage in the game, yes, it appears that the Man of Steel will be pushed back to accommodate Justice League.

Does that mean that Singer is out and the sequel to Superman Returns scrapped? Not likely.

As I mentioned earlier, Bryan Singer has already signed on to do The Man of Steel and his team is reportedly already working on the film. I find it hard to believe that the studio would be willing to lose the money that will have to be paid to Singer if they decide to drop the project. I just can’t see that happening.

Our sources have confirmed earlier reports that the Justice League of America film will consist of at least Superman (Clark Kent), Batman (Bruce Wayne), Wonder Woman (Princess Diana), The Flash (Barry Allen), Aquaman and the Green Lantern (John Stewart) and will follow the OMAC storyline and also feature Maxwell Lord.

Within a few weeks, George Miller should be confirmed as the director and casting should commence immediately. The priority for the studio will have to be to figure out what they are doing with Superman and Batman.

It would be a mistake on Warner Bros. part to recast Superman, Brandon did a fine job and under Miller’s direction he could do great, besides I hear that Warner Bros. really dug Bryan Singer’s take for the sequel and Michael Dougherty is already working on the new script.

Bottom line, Justice League of America will start shooting early 2008.

Well.. it all sounds great, and I think Bale and Routh should play the parts, and both have said they would. In fact recently, at Wizard World This was brought up:

On a scale of 1 to 10, is there any interest in a Batman/Superman World’s Finest movie?

DAVID GOYER: For me, after working on this project, it’s zero.

JONAH NOLAN: When I was a teenager, my brother gave me a copy of The Dark Knight Returns, which has a very similar scene in it. I couldn’t put a number on it.

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN: Creatively, I’m burned out so I have no interest.

PAUL LEVITZ: What do you say, Christian? Do you want to wrestle Superman? [Audience roars]

CHRISTIAN BALE: [Nods confirming he’d like to as the audience screams in excitement]

Granted, the JL film isn't Batman Vs. Superman, but still.. I think it's a good sign that he'd do it.

Again... My thoughts on Bale. He never mentions when he'd like to do it. He could mean he'd do it tomorrow, he could mean he'd do it after Nolan's over.

My thought is that he'd wait til after Begins 3 to do a project like that... But I have been wrong before.

At the press day for 3:10 to Yuma in Los Angeles today, Superhero Hype! asked Christian Bale if he is signed to play Batman in the proposed Justice League of America movie at Warner Bros. Bale, who plays Batman again in The Dark Knight, said he is not, and we don't really expect him to. He'll probably stick with his current franchise with director Christopher Nolan.

Personally, recasting Superman & Batman while keeping Bale in the Batman series and Routh for Superman is probably the way to go. Because it will not run into problems with Superman or Batman movies, and we're not the kind of beast or are we that stupid not to know why this person is Superman and that person is Superman. So far, this decade we have had Smallville SUperman Tom Welling and Movie Superman Brandon Routh. There was no midunderstandings. So a third guy, for Justice League (JL) Superman, won't be hard to understand

I agree that we aren't stupid.. but I disagree that they need to recast. Bale is Batman. Routh is Superman. Why recast em? And lets not forget, Bale might say no today and yes tomorrow. Or he might not. And if they do recast, lets hope the guy plays him like Bale does, more down to earth.

As for Routh, I think he wants to do it.. so we might see him in it.

Bale also said in anouther interview that he doesn't want Batman in a JL pic until after Nolan's franchise is over... So I wouldn't hold my breath on him saying yes.

And I personally think recasting Batman is the best route to go (next to not having him at all.). Nolan's Batman franchise is based heavily on realism. Justice League is about space aliens, an amazon, the king of atlantis, and a guy who can run faster than the speed of sound. I think it would be wise to seperate the two as much as possible.

Plus TDK is going to be way too dark for children, and keeping a lighter happier Batman in Justice League would let WB to sell stuff to the kiddies without making going Schumacher on Nolan's butt.

i think for the JL movie, they should keep the heroes in costume and only in costume. it might sound stupid...but if they do that, they wont have to worry about if the actor can pull off their alter ego or w/e. i think ron perlman could be a really good batman. he's got the voice and build for it.

I think it would work well if they establish that bale's batman is in the same universe as the rest of the heroes.
Maybe a cameo of him in JLA or of any other hero in TDK or any subsequent movies.

I think Perlman's a good choice, he's got the voice and the build, plus I personally think Bats should be older, it helps seperate him from Nolan's movies and it's something we haven't seen in on film.

Perlman? C'mon, i like perlman as much as the next guy but as a live action batman. sorry but he's too old, even if you want them just in costume. I didnt even really like his voice in JLH, but i could live with him if it were animated but in live action? Sorry but it makes me wonder if you guys read the comics.(kidding of course, i know you guys read the comics) and even if bats should be older, he shouldnt be in his 50's, and look it
so he has the build and the voice, what if conroy had the build, would you guys want him? doubtful. Sorry but if thats true and thats what you guys want, the movie would already go downhill for alot of people. Im kinda glad WB doesnt take suggestions from fan boys lol(no offence, not trying to start a fight)
im losing faith in these boards :p

Jk....kinda HarleyQuinn

But lets actually cast bruce/ batman, im really not sure, ill throw a few random names
Jaime rambler( thoughi dont think he is built enough, but he can work out)
Jim Cavezal

Ron Perlman reminds me of Alex Ross' Batman for some reason. Older looking and the voice.

Kevin Conroy could SO play the old Bruce Wayne if they ever did a Batman Beyond movie.

And no Batboy, by saying those things, you ARE trying to start something. You're just insulting people left and right.

lol... Dude, no offence, but you've made some of the worst casting suggestions I've ever heard. That's the thing about opinion, we all want something differant. And it doesn't help that a lot of comic characters have so many variations that what constitutes as a loyal translation really is up to the person who's watching.

So don't be so anxious to shut down other peoples opinions, if you want us to respect yours, then you'll have to respect ours.

But I digress.

Perlman is on the older side of what I want for the movie, but I was thinking it would be cool if they could make him and Supes at their ages during DKR so that they have more seniority over the other members, I think that would add something new to the mix rather than just having a boring team-up movie. Just a thought.

No news, no need to post.

Regarding possible cast members for the up-coming Justice League movie, MovieHole.net has posted a report claiming that Brandon Routh and Christian Bale would not be reprising their roles as Superman and Batman in the proposed Justice League movie, even though Superman and Batman would be in the film.
A casting director for the movie will be onboard next week and it's then that they'll be going after their tighted strongmen.

Director George Miller (Mad Max) has some ideas who he'd like to cast as Batman and Superman but naturally, they mightn't be the same faces the WB want. Either way, doesn't sound like Christian Bale or Brandon Routh will be involved in the film. I assume that's a financial thing.
Source: http://www.moviehole.net/news/20070822_justice_league_confirmations.html

Further more, IESB.net reports that Superman, Batman, the Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and the Green Lantern are all said to be in the movie, with early meetings having already taken place for certain key roles with announcements expected very soon.

Routh and Bale not being in this movie does NOT mean that they won't star in future stand-alone "Superman" or "Batman" film sequels, as both have contracts to play their respective characters in future films. MovieHole.net reinforces this in their updated report...
Yes, its true that Brandon Routh and Christian Bale won't be starring as Superman and Batman, respectively, in the "Justice League" movie - but they will both still be starring in the stand-alone "Superman" and "Batman" sequels. So don't fret fans, there will only be a new Bats and Supes for the team-up movie.
Source: http://www.iesb.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3114&Itemid=99

So I guess I was right saying we'll be getting a Justice League Superman & Justice League Batman, right next to our Smallville and Movie Supermen and Movie Batman.
