If Scarlet Johanson was Martha Wayne then Tom's a bit of a Playboy himself, with Keaton pushing 50 and Johanson being about 22. It'd be more interesting casting someone like Michelle Pfeiffer as Martha.
I'd put Johanson in there, cos any red-blooded man would. Maybe as Vicki Vale.

If they make a live action T.V. series I wouldn't expect much, WB seems to have no real budget for T.V. shows. Smallville, for instance, has low production values and not a single actor that goes above the level of "good"; The biggest thing they pay for is a Coldplay song that plays in only one scene.

That's not to say Smallville is bad, good actors and good story hold up a show very well; but Batman Begins had gigantic production values and some of the greatest actors of our time, so production values on the level of Smallville won't cut it in following that act.

I'm just sayin' how it is, and I'm sorry but no T.V. show that WB can make will be able to stand up to Begins.

And I don't like the idea of young Batman, it's to much of a re-hash,

WB exec: "We've got the rights to make a Batman T.V. show; how should we go about this?"

Writer: "Well, 'Smallville' is doing pretty well; so maybe we can look at a few things we did right their to improve our Batman sh..."

WB exec: "No time! Let's just slap Batman in Smallville and call it 'Batman: The Highscool Years', that ought to bring in the 90210 crowd..."

I believe in moving forward, If we've got young Superman then we should do something else for Batman.

No, that's not a stupid comparison at all; I guess you haven't had any experiance with advertising and publicity.

Here is the truth,

Batman Begins was really awsome, so that put a lasting image in the publics mind.

Now let's say Schumacher's Batman & Robin wasn't released in 97, let's say that it will be released a year from now as a follow up to Begins; It would have a vastly poorer reception than it did back in 97. Do you know why that is? It's because back in 97 Batman Forever was released prior to B&R, and Forever had already brought a certain level of camp back into the franchise; however, if B&R followed Begins, which was almost completly serious and had no camp at all, it would have been expected to have no camp as well.

You see? The last thing we see of a franchise is what sets our standards for the next thing, even if they are to in differant media.

wait, but why would the tv series change so drastically from batman begins? surely it'll be different, but why would it have to be campy? i would expect there to be atleast batman and robin, if not a bunch of the bat-family...but looking at most shows of today, theyre anything but campy. smallville, heroes, blade, supernatural...all awesome shows.

even if it is a little campy, it would probably still be entertaining. i mean...it is batman.

You seem to have misunderstood my comment, I was mearly using Batman & Robin as an example to explain that the previous major installment in a franchise sets the level of our expectations for the next major installment.

It dosen't have to be camp they fail in; a movie or T.V. show is a very big formula, and if even one ingrediant is changed it would be noticable, and if it's a bad change than it detracts from the entertaiment value of the program.

Phil Wrote: wait, but why would the tv series change so drastically from batman begins?

Because Batman Begins had talent at an epic level, a level of talent that can't be duplicated in the low buget of a T.V. series; and Begins had many, many talented folks involved, Art Directors, Costumers, Prop Makers, Set Builders, Cinematographers, Not to mention that most of the main characters were played by some of the greatest actors of our time, and of course it was directed by an amazingly talented Writter/Director.

Now if you can find a T.V. studio willing to fork out $150,000,000 for a T.V. show, than point them out to me.

And BTW, most T.V. shows have low budgets because the studios are unwilling to fork over a large wad of cash to a show the might bomb on the first episode. Some big studios are willing to occasionaly take a gamble, but WB isn't one of them.

If you're going to tell me I'm wrong, then at least read my posts and get a grasp of what I'm saying, I'll humour you by repeating myself in very simple terms;

We'll go with a level system, and we will be taking from past a experiance with The Batman;

10= Batman Begins
9= Btas/ MotP
8= Batman 89
7= Batman Beyond
6= Tnba
5= Batman Returns
4= Batman Forever
3= Batman MotBW
2= Batman 66
1= Batman & Robin 97*

Now since the last thing I saw was Begins I had high hopes for The Batman, I thought it would be a 7-10 on my scale; unfortunatly it ended up on a 3.

See what I'm saying, the last thing we've seen influences our expectations, so it dosen't matter how long after Nolan's franchise the show starts; that Begins flavour will still be fresh in our mouths unless somthing else comes up in the mean time.

* The scale is purley listed in my opinion.

ok just cuz you dont think its good,doesnt nessisarily say that everyone dislikes it,plus it woulding be the same,this show can have a diff producer director,just cuz one show isnt that good doesnt mean all batman shows will bomb,plus if u read the first post i was talking about characters,who will be in it and who would you cast,not a disscussion about this being the same as TB or screwing up the begins franchise
