Nice review. I plan to check this out this weekend. Sounds like it will be good to watch with my daughter. She really enjoys the 60's show, so this could be right up her alley.

awesome.
sadly, i'm gonna miss it. i have to go to church this friday, and i have a football game to play on saturday morning. i might skip out on football just to watch batman...it depends. lol.
but yeah i heard good things about the show though. and from episode one, thats surprising.
ive been looking at reviews all around, and they're all pretty much the same. they say how it might not be the interpretation of batman we all like, but it's definitely a fun show to watch.
the problem with The Batman was that it tried to sustain the darkness of the character while still appealing to kids...and it turned out to be an inconsistent mess. but with brave and the bold, its kid friendly, action packed, and comedic...which i think is for the better.

I'd rather see lighthearted homage to the classic Batman of the golden and silver ages then see a weak pheux-anime with a monkey Joker, a Mansonite Riddler, a pre-pubescent Poison Ivy, a wangsta Scarface, a Mr. Freeze that wears an iceburge helmet, an inexplicably red-skined Bane and a generally weak sense of humour...

Ha ha, one thing that bothered me about The Batman is that every two seconds they had to have a "Werrr errr!" musical sound. And yeah...most of the villains were lousy. But, I still consider myself a fan of the show, despite it's weak points.
As the reviews say is pretty much what I thought the Brave and the Bold would be for a while; not the kind of Batman I would've chosen, but a fun show to watch. So, I'm lookin' forward to it. Seems like I'll never get the Batman show I've been waiting for, LOL. |

The Batman's version of the Joker was good, imo, despite the fact I didn't like the show enough to watch it.

I liked it, but I rated it at a 2 or 3 out of five. I liked the art style and most of the acting was "fluff", but it gave it that nostalgic feel. Green a
Arrow was alright and Blue Beetle was cool too. However that story didn't gel together....neither did the chars. I will continue to watch it with optimism.

Well BATB wasnt good but it will get better. I hated Clock King's design. Blue Bettle was cool but only his suit. I hated the voices. Blue Bettle should have been darker and the show should be more like Batman in the 80's.

Hm. Two threads by the same person and of the exact same topic...
Thankfully I now have DVR, so I watched the episode tonight. I knew very early on that it would be a light show with Silver Age flavor and plenty of implausible moments (Batman pulling a thin Bat emblem off his chest ahd hurling it 200 feet into the air to jam some massive gears). I didn't pay close attention to action scenes and had to rewind a few times to make sure I caught the basic events. I'll continue recording them and at least skim through every episode if they get too strange or kiddy.
The animation had a good fluid look and the voice acting was very appropriate. Bader's Batman is more reminiscent of Conroy's than I expected yet suited the dry character style well. I have a feeling one of my favorite elements of the series will be spotting the various old school comic book references. Streaky appeared in a cat food commercial, and a classic Batman/Robin drawing by Carmine Infantino could be seen on the bedroom wall.
Overall, because of its light, youthful nature, I'm not as excited about this series as I would be with more serious interpretations. It comprises heavily of simple plots and action "fluff" that simply doesn't entertain fans over the age of 12 too well. But I admire the unique retro comic book approach that allows for a wealth of humor and doesn't take itself too seriously. The crossing between retro and modern DC styles also interests me (Silver Age Green Arrow and Modern Blue Beetle). I'll definitely keep my eye on it as new episodes debut.

I honestly didn't like it! The comics are so much better its not even funny. If your younger then ten or have a kid, I can see the appeal. I personally though, am looking for something that shows batman the way he is in the comics, of the later ages, he's not kid friendly. It has a bit of a Golden age kiddy thing, and I don't like it! I give it a 6 out of 10, but I'm not watching it again. |

what? i'm 17 years old, and the show is super fun to watch. lol.
i didn't see anything wrong with the past 2 episodes, they were both good. the character of batman is unchanged, he's most definitely still the dark knight; he's just placed in really weird environments with different heroes. and that's why the humor works.
and one of my most favorite parts is when plastic man goes, "the only way you're sticking around is because you feel responsible for what happened to me" or something like that. and then batman goes, "there is no happy ending for a life of crime. it's up to you to make the best of it." and he said it so fast and nonchalantly like what plastic man had said was idiotic. that is SO batman. it's what makes watching this version of batman so fun.
and the way the comics have been heading, i dont really know if i like the idea of bruce wayne resting peace...

I think this is a great version because it steps away from the dark image of Batman and takes the viewer back to the days of the tv show and first animated version of Batman...Kind of an homage to what came before it.

Normally I enjoy B:TBATB, but 'Mayhem of The Music Meister' was God Awful, I know TBATB is supposed to be campy at times but this was waaaaaaaaay too much even for a guy like me that grew up watching Batman '66 on TV ...It was as if every hero and villian that has ever been on B:TBATB was dropped into the middle of a production of West Side Story

I agree with Buckeye Bat. I saw 5 seconds of B:TBATB and Music Meister was singing and I felt like hiding in Penguin's jacket pocket. Batman + Singing = EAR PLUGS!!
I dislike musicals for a reason. Probably because we watched West Side Story so much in Chorus when I was in the 8th grade. Musicals ruin the whole point of a movie. Makes me die a little inside when people start singing.
Disney's Anastasia, The Wizard Of Oz, movies like that with some singing are fine. They are an exception.
However, I am glad I missed the whole episode of B:TBATB. See, this is why I loved Batman:TAS and The Batman. NO SINGING!! >_<
And Batman '66 TV series trumps all Batman TV shows. Burgess Meredith makes my heart melt. <3

oh what? really? i loved the music meister episode. batman didn't even really sing, he just did some vibrato action at the end. i think it's pretty well-established that batman is a really good singer, i was a little disappointed that batman didn't sing as much as he could have. hahaha.
but c'mon, the episode was so much fun. lots of '66 batman references like shark repellants and the batusi. and the songs were really catchy.
i suppose it's only working for some people. i enjoyed every second of it. even the corny disney-sounding black canary songs.
i'm really hoping for robin to turn into nightwing, and for bruce to adopt tim drake. and possibly mention jason todd's death. tedd kord's death was mentioned, so i don't see why jason's couldn't.

Why not? They have not canceled the series have they? Starro could be the one where they introduce Superman (beyond his cape and back of head). It is pretty cool that they will build up to it with the teasers.

Speaking of how light hearted this show is and all that... thats good for kids. I think that they should make an uncut batman animated series like they did with Dragon Ball Z and show it on the adult swim block on cartoon network
