heh heh, i have my methods. but it won't be long until the thing hits the shelves. i reserved mine, haha. i get a free poster along with it.

i think kevin conroy's voice fit pretty well for the most part. i think he fit well as batman for every segment, but it got weird as field test's bruce wayne. as field test's batman he was ok though.

Today is the day!

If you bought Gotham Knight, what did you think? Maybe you watched it on Comcast?

However you watched it, let us know what you thought!

what??? only a 7? i give it a 9.5 at least!

gotham knight has got to be the best animated batman feature yet. i was happy to see the japanese langauge track, but i have to say it's a lot better in english. i thought i would have liked it more in japanese, but...something about batman is just too american.

"working through pain" was my favorite. it showed how batman's pain led him to a path that he desired. that even when people try to help him, he won't receive it because he wants to carry the burden alone.

i also liked crossfire. it just cool seeing batman beat on all those gangsters. it also gave batman this really strong presence, people were in awe when they saw him just standing there.

what i'm hoping for is there to be future japanese directed batman animated features. it would be awesome to see an animated adaptation of "child of dreams" or any comic for that matter. "crossfire" reminded me of jim lee's batman.

I'm going to say that I really enjoyed this but I'm going to have to watch it again. I had a really bad migraine so I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I would.

I love the originality and interpretations. My favorite was Deadshot just because the style was great. I didn't really like Have I Got A Story for You. It was a little out there in terms of how Batman looked but it reminded me of the TNBA episode Legends of the Dark Knight with the point of views.

It was great to hear Conroy again but I agree his voice didn't seem to fit with at least two segments.

I'd say an 8-9 because it felt short.

The only thing stopping you from success is doubt.

the more I watch it the more I like it... my daughter get hipnoticed every time I put it...

I love it from Field test to the end with Deadshot.... so I give a 9... perhaps when I rest more, & be willing to watch it without been tired, I give it 9 + or 10 yes

I have mixed feelings on it, but ultimately I think I like it. I went in thinking it was going to be a bunch of short stories bridging the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight but, while it shared some elements of that universe, I can't say it shared enough to where it worked for me in that capacity. So halfway through, I decided to not care about all that and take it as a Batman stand alone, a "tales of the Batman" type thing, and it started working better for me.

I'm not a huge Anime fan, but some stories had less of that feel than others, and the overall coloring and darkness worked well for Batman. My favorite stories was In Darkness Dwell, mostly because of the butt-whooping Batman hands both Killer Croc and the Scarecrows henchman. (That's still something we haven't really seen in a live action movie to my satisfaction.) I also dug the animation the most in that story, and loved the "I work through pain!" line.

Sadly, my least favorite thing about the DVD was Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman. I love Kevin Conroy’s portrayal in the 15 years worth of Timmverse stuff. In fact, he’s my favorite actor to portray the Dark Knight (in his around about way), but it just stuck out like a sore thumb in these short stories. 1) I associate his voice with a Bruce Timm batman, not a creepy, dark anime Batman, so it was off putting, and 2) his heroic, square jawed sounding voice just didn’t go well with the darker, PG-13 mood of these stories. I think they should have went with a more Christian Bale route, and give Batman a raspy, monstery sound.

Overall, I give it an OK. I appreciate it in that it’s definitely a new approach to animated Batman. It’s fresh and interesting in that regard. I don’t know if the stories were over-the-top great, and it definitely felt short in length, but any Batman fan is going to enjoy watching it anyway. It’s something to tide me over until The Dark Knight hits theaters, and in that, it succeeds at its job.

Now how about that Wonder Woman trailer? Looks good!

i thought it was brilliant!
started out a lil slow with "have i got a story for you". it was fun to watch the different perspective from the kids but it seemed to kinna drag. then it just grew more intense with each chapter after that. i really like the Anna Ramirez character in "Crossfire". the bullet proof device in "Feild Test" was awesome! and i like the way he decided against it in the end. you gotta love Croc and Scarecrow together (sorta) in "In Darkness Dwells". i also like the way Batman let Gordon monitor him when he went into the sewers. shows the growing trust in the relationship. "Working Through the Pain" was just awesome! early Bruce Wayne in training are one of my favorite type of stories. ending with "Deadshot" was brilliant! you really start to get the sense that Batman is moving beyond a rookie status. his skills in every area are starting to become "Dark Knight" caliber.
i do agree that it was wayyy too short. but thats the cardinal rule in show biz....
always leave'em wanting more. eh??
9 1/2 stars from me!

I enjoyed Gotham Knight a lot, it more or less shows the evolution of Batman in every story in a different way, in I Have a Story to Tell it shows us the different versions of how people could see Batman, In Crossfire it showed us how he begins to trust Gordon's judgement, In Field Test we were showed how he uses his gadgets and the methods he uses to save Gotham his own way, in Darkness Dwells we were showed how he trusts Gordon but is still a bit skeptical of him, in Working Through Pain we were showed how he is willing to live through pain to save Gotham and in Deadshot we were showed how he studies his enemies and does not underestimate them. What I want to know and will find out tommorow is how does these characters affect the story and how are they involved in the plot of the Dark Knight, I know Sal Maroni is involved in the film since we have seen him in the trailer and clips but does the Russian appears in the film, will there still be the Gang War. Overall I liked Gotham Knight and it made me want to watch The Dark Knight even more.

i have generally mixed feelings about Gotham Knight, but I did enjoy it alot, i'd give it an 8.5/10 My favorites were crossfire, deadshot and my personal favorite, in darkness dwells, the animation was fantastic on that one, batman looked awesome, the fight scenes were crazy awesome but when you consider it, the fact that i only liked 3 of 6 is disappointing. I think the other 3 were WAAAAY to anime for me, especially field test, that one sucked HARD. Bruce Wayne looked like he was 16 and the batman suit was just stupid and the whole concept of the bullet deflector was so unlike batman and his style that i ended up hating field test. The first one, Have i got a story for you, was basically just a rip off of the episode in btas where the kids are all talking about how they saw batman and each kid's story is different, so automatically that one sucked to me, no creativity, although it was nicely animated and Working through pain was pretty good. All in all i also found myself confused as to whether or not they all were connected since from the trailers it was said that all stories were seperate and not related but then it seems that they were actually related which makes me want a DCU animated movie done by whoever did in darkness dwells, because that be awesome. All in all, entertaining but left me wanting more, liking only 3 out of 6 stories was way too low for me so i'll just stick to my awesomely crystal clear btjunkie copy burned on dvd-r instead of dishing out money for this one SmileSmileSmile

You liked the same three I liked, but overall I did like them all but Have I Got a Story For You is my least likeble, followed by Field Test, but you are right about In Darkness Dwells, that one was excellent (my personal favorite) and Crossfire and Deadshot were great also and Working Through Pain I liked it because it showed Batman's determination for the good of Gotham and how he overcomes his pain.

Well I thought Batman: Gotham Knight was just OK. 7 seems to be just about right if you ask me too. It was nowhere near the best animated Batman film ever. Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm is the best animated in my book, followed closely by Batman: Sub Zero and Batman Beyond Return Of The Joker. The depth of the opening sequences reminded me a lot of the opening in Mask Of The Phantasm. Although that depth seemed to disappear in the following segments.

Rather than cut up the sections with different writers, artists and directors I would have rather seen it all woven into one cohesive movie with one artist style. While I enjoyed the first section as the kids recalled their brush with the Batman, only the hardcore Batman fan will see it as an homage to an earlier Batman The Animated Series episode. The other segments seem to try and weave together the same story line while using different approaches.

While it is billed as covering the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight I did not really see the need, nor did I see it as bridging that gap. We see Scarecrow in a cameo early in The Dark Knight and we see The Joker crashing a Mob meeting where the Mob is trying to figure out what to do. So you get the sense of what happened between films in TDK. Gotham Knight should have been more like Star Wars: Clone Wars animated films that filled the gap left in that series.

yeah, in darkness dwells had some seriously sharp animation and yeah, working through pain did have some cool story behind it. As for flabat's comments I have to agree that mask of the phantasm is the absolute best animated batman movie in my book

If your not sure.. I say rent it.

The only reason for the second disc I can see is the two features, "Batman & Me: The Bob Kane Story" and "A Mirror for the Bat"

Other than those.. The single disc would be ok. Unless you need the 4 eps of TAS that is included.

I thought it was decent, though Mask of the Phantasm and Return of the Joker still easily hold the top spots for animated movies in my book. Even though "Have i Got a Story for You" was essentially the BTAS episode "Legends of the Dark Knight," I liked the way it was done (especially the animation) and it was one of my two favorites (the other was "Crossfire"wink.

There some weird moments that pulled me right out of a couple of the stories, though, like the police transporting a criminal in the back of a two-door fastback in "Crossfire" or an electromagnet that works on lead but not ferrous metals in "Field Test."
