It seems that because enough info was revealed recently that a thread of this upcoming DVD, I felt, should be up now.

So this is what you need to know, and in turn, what has been revealed so far on this upcoming DVD:

Bruce Timm (BTAS, JLU, Superman: Doomsday and the upcoming Justice League: The New Frontier) is directing Batman: Gotham Knight!

Yes, you heard it. It was revealed on the Toonzone forums where he answered a member's question that he is invovled with Gotham Knight.

He also revealed that its 6 segments (so this is like Animatrix).

And there are three composers who will do 2 segments each. The composers are: Robert Kral (Superman: Doomsday), Kevin Manthei (Justice League: The New Frontier, also did Scream 2-3 and Resident Evil), and Christopher Drake (the two and will do the third Hellboy DTVs).

The writers who will be doing the six segments are writers who are well known for Batman works, both in and out of comics: Brain Azzarello, David Goyer, Greg Rucka, Jordan Goldberg, Alan Burnett, and Josh Olson (the only one with no background in any work relating to the Dark Knight (except Gotham Knight, of course)).

And here was the image that first announced the project:

And here is the brand new image, and profile, to the project recently released:

This is going to be cool when it's released!

wow, that really does look like anime. reminds me of vampire hunter d. but i'm guessing there will be 6 different styles if i read that article correctly.

i wonder who will provide the voices. so many possibilities for batman; christian bale, kevin conroy, jeremy sisto, rino romano, etc.

I was hoping they'd use Production I.G or Madhouse, or the guys who did Linkin Park's breaking the habit... I didn't think they'd use all three! LOL

Anyway, I'm putting my money on Christian Bale playing Batman... Animatrix features the tallent's of the actors, if you recall.

I'm sure they'll use Connery if they do a DKR style segment. LOL

scottish batman? haha no way.

the batman is really mean-looking. christian bale's weird interrogating yell thing with the "sware to me!!" voice would work perfectly. he did the voice for the batman begins game, so he'll probably do it for this too.

That's actually what a ton of Anime looks like, we just see more of the cutesy wide eyed ones because they're more popular to some demographics.

I know; I was thinking maybe it was something WB wouldn't want, but since Jett posted it I figured it was ok.

No harm done. It's the sneak peek that will be shown with New Frontier, so I don't see why they can't leave it alone and let us watch it..

Lookign at it, it's not really an actual prequel as being adveristed to The Dark Knight. Because not only are the costumes different, but we have different Batmobiles and different Batcaves. So I guess that, even though maybe there will be something that could connect to the Nolan Batman series, Gotham Knight will be an in-it's-own-canon Batman DTV.

Except for the fact that everyone involved with it says it's a Prequel. Just because he might look different doesn't mean it's not all connected...

Have you seen the Animatrix? There were only a handful of those shorts that had the same artistic direction of the Matrix, but the shorts were still in canon.

Same thing here, it's the same story, they just let the artists interpret the visuals in their own way.

Well we're see from the finished product. I mean I'm not against those invovled in any way, but, looking back at the Animatrix which inspired Gotham Knight in some degree, the shorts that make up the Animatrix, while connect to the Matrix films, can be considered seperate on it's own. Like the "Life & Times in the Matrix Universe". And out of the 9 shorts, only 2 connect to the sequels themselves. But, at the same time, you can watch those without seeing the sequels and be fine with them still.

Maybe it's because there is a part of me that just want a Batman DTV that isn't a prequel, nor any way connected, to anything. But I'm not being negetive on what Gotham Knight is. For all we know, it being treated on it's own as well, might be the case for many when this is released.

I thnk it can be viewed as both.. It's a prequel, yet you can watch it without watching Begins or TDK.

That looks so good. Anime has a way of being able to tell a story in a way that no one has really thought of. I LOVED the quick scene with the death of Bruce's parents. From the POV of the gun barrel, you can't see that anywhere else! Its so stylized yet it never takes away the mythos and mystery of Batman. I think the anime style I like is the one with Deadshot. I'm very much looking forward to this.

I wish there were toys being made after this DTV. I'd love to see an anime style Batman figure.
