i dont think MOTP is the greatest movie ever, but i do think TAS is the best animated version of Batman to date.

i dont think anything will top btas. mainly because kids seem to be attracted to off the walls action with no story(ahem TB ahem hem....) rather than shows with greatly told stories. man, i wasnt like that as a kid! dont know about you guys! but as a kid i loved the btas stories!

dude, i hated btas. it had me falling asleep so fast....the storys were probably good, but i didnt care. i wanted action!! lol. i only liked the episodes with robin for sum reason...but yeah...i appreciate btas so much more now. i got to see all the episodes i missed with the box sets.

At that age, when BTAS first aired, I wasn't quite as interested in story, unless it was simple and easy to follow like "Feat of Clay". I'm sure I couldn't have told you the name of the 'big fat white-haired suited guy' (Rupert Thorn).
I really did enjoy BTAS for its action and style. I loved the whole '40s feel and darkness even as a 7-year-old. And today, I have a way greater appreciation for the storytelling, the seriousness, and how true it actually stayed to the character without getting Frank Miller-crazy. My older brother caught me watching it on Boomerang and was amazed at how dark and serious the cartoon really was.

I didn't even know Rupert Thorne or Lucius Fox had been in the show until about five years ago when I started buying tapes of it.
No, I can claim to always have been a fan of BTAS. As a kid I used to tape one episode and watch it every day until it was taped over. I could probably say every line from that episode with the invisible man.
I will admit that the Robin episodes were more exciting, mainly because as a kid, if you have to choose between being a grumpy man pushing forty like Batman, or a cool, streetwise kid barely in his twenties like Robin, you're going to choose him. Also, I loved the credits sequence for the Robin episodes, because they used the Shirley Walker theme which suited the animated series far better than Danny Elfman's theme ever did.

I remember when the first episode premiered after school. The intro was starting and I was going crazy because I couldn't get the VCR to start recording. I was in 1st grade so maybe I didn't quite know how to use it yet, or because it was just really old. :rol:

hmm...i just learned that btas came out little after i was born. that must mean that they played btas over and over again until tnba came out, lol. otherwise, i wudnt even know btas existed.

BTAS brought many of the comic stories to the life of animation, one story in particular which I think they did the best on the show was The Demons Quest, yeah the Ra`s Al Ghul story which took 2 episodes to explain. And the show was also great at making their own stories with their own new villains such as The Clock King if I`m right (not my favorite though) but they made an attempt and it was a great effort...I think theres a good majority of us here who recorded the episodes when we were like all in elementary school lol!

No, I'm pretty sure the Clock King was in the comics before he was in BTAS. He definitely appeared on the Adam West show at some point.

Wait waaah???!!!...I wanna see that episode!!! lol. Because the clock kings character is definatley someone we`d see in the 60s series so I`m not going to doubt that one!

I'm a bit older than some of you, so I could pretty much understand what was happening. the first few episodes in 92 I remember watching when they premired. Me, my brother, and my dad (who worked nights then) would eat lunch while watching the show. I still remember watching Hearts of Ice, a really good episode. |

I LOVE that series (and own ALL the episodes).
I like how the creators knew and utilized the ENTIRE Batman ethos and catalogue of characters, selecting ones that made good episodes.
The villian characters were largely (if not entirely) based on ones from either comics or 6-s TV show. Many were reinvisioned and given new looks and backgrounds. Interestingly, many of the stories created for the show are now "canon," such as the redo of Mr. Freeze. They even made some pretty stupid characters (like Maxie Zeus) into good ones and great episodes (Fire from Mount Olympus is one of my all time favorite Batman stories PERIOD).
Even the bad ones are better than the best of most other Superhero cartoons.
While I enjoy TB, B:TAS and NBA (I see them as Part 1 and Part 2 of the same thing) is a MUCH better done show.
(PS-> I am a HUGE fan of the Streamline Modern form of design prominant in the late 30s and most of the design on that BTAS is from this design concept. Even the flying wing/boat is based closely on a design by Norman Bel Geddes.)

Hey, cool - someone else who's a fan of Geddes' work. His Airliner Number 4 remains one of my favorite aircraft designs, ever. That whole time period is one of my favorites for design...from advertising to the Streamliner locomotives.
