Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt
Finding the perfect Batman is no easy task. But Bill Dozier did it. When looking at possible Batman, Dozier at first wanted Ty Hardin for the role. But when he wasn't available, they went with Adam West. Dozier saw West in a Comic James Bond Commercial for Nestle's Quick. He was impressed so he called West in to read for the part. Dozier also called in Lyle Waggoner. Dozier said that you had to test more than one person or the networks don't think they are getting a fair shake. After the test, it was found that West was the Superior one for the part.
West said he fell in love with the script. "It was wonderfully fresh, innovative and funny. I fell down laughing eighteen times. I thought if we could marry this to a good production, it would be sensational."
Although the series had ended, West's Batman did not. He has made countless appearances at comic show conventions, and on T.V. specials.
West has not left the Batman Spotlight. Recently, he's been involved in a number of Batman shows. In Batman: The Animated Series, West voiced The Grey Ghost, who was an actor that fell in a slump after his show was canceled. He also is the voice of Mayor Grange in "The Batman" West also recently lent his voice as Batman in a student film.
