PLOT:
Cassandra has moved back into Wayne Manor where she is given one bed room which she keeps completely bare. Surrounded by pictures and memories of days past, Cass is reminded of her place (or
lack thereof) in the Bat-Family. Even Jason Todd is still more fondly remembered than Batgirl!
After putting a stop to a brief altercation with Nightwing, Batman and Robin attempts to explain Batgirl's delicate situation and the reasoning behind accepting her back into the fold.
Batman explains that Cain and Slade had been manipulating and drugging Cassandra with an unstable drug compound called "Pheno." Until recently she had not had full control over herself.
Mind-control or not, Nightwing still seems hesitant to trust the former assassin. Regardless, Batman states that Cassandra is welcome back into the Cave and Wayne Manor based on the one condition
that she never murder another human again.
Little does Bruce realize that Cassandra still plans on breaking that rule - regardless of the consequences - for two men, her father - David Cain, and Deathstroke, Slade Wilson.
Cassandra is ready to accept the possibility that killing the men responsible for manipulating her and drugging her for those months may leave her ostracized completely from the Bat-Family.
After intercepting a shipment of assassin grade ammunition clips purchased by a man named Armand Lester, Batgirl enters the name on the shipping charter into the Bat-Computer. She then goes out to look up each lead the Bat-Computer
produces to see if she can't locate Cain and Slade's hide-out. She eventually ends up at an abandoned school building bought by an associate of "Armand Lester."
Inside the school her worst fears are realized. Lying in large pods are all of Cain and Slade's test subjects, each of them lying dead with their throats slit and a startlingly familiar face staring back at her - Marque!
