PLOT:
Standing in the school building and staring at the frozen dead faces of Cain and Slade's latest Pheno test subjects, Cass is shocked to find that their murderer appears to be a sister of hers.

Much like Batgirl, Marque too was once one of David Cain's students. Although she swears she never let the murderer into her head, she accepted his training learning everything she could before eventually turning on him. Now she seeks to put an end to Cain and Slade's Pheno experiments.

Batgirl tries to convince Marque that they are on the same mission but Marque harkens back to one of Cain's first lessons - "trust is a ghost!" The two tumble through a plate glass window and begin duking it out on the basketball court outside the school building. Eventually Cassandra is able to get the upper hand and proves her honor by not taking the opportunity to kill Marque.

Since Batgirl obviously cannot trust Marque enough to let her into the Bat-Cave the two part company with the plan to meet up the next night and exchange whatever information they're able to find in Cain and Slade's backgrounds that might help them find their next target. Before leaving, Cass tries to make Marque promise not to kill anyone but Marque doesn't listen.

Batgirl returns to the cave and begins running her tests when the Oracle appears on the computer screen. Barbara tries to remind Cass that she doesn't have to do this alone and that killing the men will not make her feel any better. But Barbara also fully understands the need to take matters into your own hands. So she promises to delete any traces of Cassandra's computer activity so that Bruce won't know what she's been up to. Meanwhile, Cass is also running a blood test of some sort on the computer as well.

Later while looking up information at the How you Bean coffee shop, Cassandra runs into an old schoolmate Sal. Sal writes down his number and tells Cassandra to call him before he leaves town in a couple weeks. But a new date isn't the only positive thing about the afternoon - Cassandra seems to have found a common link in the backgrounds of Cain and Slade!

That night Cassandra returns to the basketball court where she finds Marque washing blood off her hands. Although the two had both found people who might have been connected to Slade and Cain in the past, Marque says that her interview subject didn't seem to know anything. With Marquee's witness incapacitated, the two girls pursue the lead Cassandra found - a chemist from Congola.

Batgirl and Marque arrive at the Narrows Island Federal Penitentiary where the chemist, Klaus-Josef Hannemaier is being held. Though he appears to be senile, the girls are able to get enough information from Hannemaier to infer that he had helped Cain and Slade stabilize the Pheno compound. This means that the women Marque had murdered were practically complete test subjects. When Batgirl and Marque leave, Klaus lets down his ruse and immediately demands to use one of his phone calls.

When Batgirl and Marque return to the school something seems off. The shattered glass from the window earlier is missing. Before Batgirl can piece together the puzzle, the two are electrified by a hidden current. Before passing out the girls find themselves staring up at two very familiar orange boots...
