PLOT:
Batgirl arrives just in time to force the gun out of place as it fires, deflecting the bullet and causing it to miss Barbara Gordon. Hearing the sound of the round hitting her window sill outside alerts Barbara to Cain's presence and she immediately phones the Bat-Cave. Dick, back at the cave after losing track of Cassandra earlier, initially wants to call in the 'capes' but Batman breaks in on the transmission and says he and Tim will handle it.

Fearing for her safety, Barbara orders Misfit not to confront Cain but rather to check the security of the building while Batgirl tackles Cain herself. The assasin's daughter has finally learned her lesson and does not allow Cain to manipulate her emotions during the fight. This proves to be a lesson Cain himself has trouble with when Batgirl's taunting causes him to lose focus and allow her to get the upper hand.

A swift kick sends Cain flying over the edge and he hangs onto the ledge of the building screaming for Cassandra's help. After initially refusing to pull Cain up, Cass realizes that she could never live with herself and goes to his aid right as he drops. Although she fails to reach him in time, there is a landing a short distance below and Batman and Robin are there waiting to take the assasin in.

Having witnessed Cassandra's attempt to save Cain's life, Batman commends her for finally overcoming the worst of her father's inculcations. Impressed by her display of restraint and focus, Batman offers to formally adopt Cassandra as his daughter. She gladly accepts his offer and the woman who once only knew the language of death cheerfully embraces her new father as the family looks towards the future.
