PLOT:
With the enormously powerful code zoo escapees at his disposal, Jason Burr is able to comb through paranormal activity data from sources ranging from various world governments to the Vatican itself. From which he's able to triangulate the probable location of his next target waiting for him in the world below Fawcett City, the home of Shazam!
For the first time, Jason Burr's target isn't technological but magical. Encircling the entire planet are invisible lines called 'ley lines' that carry magical currents and act as reservoirs at points of convergence. One of these said points is located beneath the streets of Fawcett city in the inner sanctum of the hero known as 'Captain Marvel' and the home of the dangerous entities known as the Seven Great Sins.
In a display of might he shocks the world by teleporting his devotees aboard a supertanker carrying 550,000 tons of liquid oxygen off the coast of Mangalore, India. Re-directing the ship's heading back towards Mangalore Harbor, the cultists used their N-th metal bomber vests to detonate another vortex spanning massive explosion killing upwards of thousands of people in that one attack alone. Kobra then hi-jacks a second ship - this time off the coast of Fawcett. Using some of the code zoo escapees to mask its location from
satellite surveillance, Jason Burr has set his trap and now he patiently waits for the gullible "heroes" to step into it, bringing his massive plan one step closer to completion.
But something has changed in Michael Holt. It must have occurred sometime while he was standing there, immobilized by the unmitigated strength of Jason Burr. A revelation began to dawn on him. Possessing enough might to plunge a sword into solid stone, Burr could have just as easily killed him right there in Opal City. But he didn't. He wanted him alive. To see, more than anything, his far reaching master plan. To watch the unraveling of what he called the intersection of fate and divine will. His engines of faith were roaring to life and nothing was as it seems. And in understanding that, Michael Holt became one step closer to putting a stop to his nefarious plans.
As expected, he uncovers Kobra's plans outside of Fawcett City harbor but instead decides on a smarter course of action. He realizes that Burr wants him to once again send the entire team to thwart his plan aboard that tanker. These legions of sleeper agents that they round up are nothing more than cannon fodder -
undesirables left over from his predecessor's reign. They devoted themselves to an
obsolete god and Jason has no interest in nor need for any of them. They are meant to be captured.
While one half of the JSA is neutralizing the threat aboard the tanker, another smaller group is headed to intersect Jason at the Hall of the Seven Deadly Sins. Having arrived before them thanks to Dr. Erdel's teleportation technology, Jason and Ariadne stand prepared to acquire their most powerful item yet. Suring himself up and
consolidating every ounce of power in his body, Jason Burr strikes the totem of Hatred, chipping off a piece of it's
immensely powerful surface and clutching it tightly. He feels the eternal burn of pure hatred course through his soul as the Justice Society arrives at his location. It takes everything within him to keep from lashing out, killing each of them himself one by one. But he's come too far to loose himself now. He instead waits for their next move.
Perhaps moving prematurely, Michael sends Thunderbolt to retrieve Jason Burr, but the cunning mad man has one final trick up his sleeve. His
data mining had revealed more than just the location of the Rock of Eternity but something more. Sealed away and hidden in the forgotten tomes of the Vatican Library was a secret word. A powerful word. And as Jason Burr invokes the mighty "Shazam" a bolt of lightning appears from the heavens striking the genie! Lightning fractures through the genie, striking nearly everyone present and allowing for Jason Burr to escape. But a quick thinking Stargirl stops Ariadne before she can martyr herself and detonate a hidden N-th metal vest beneath her jacket.
Jason Burr might be gone but it's cost him his highest lieutenant. And this time, Michael and the rest of the JSA are wise to Burr's games. They know exactly what they're up against. And it's time for Ariadne Persakis to talk.
