PLOT:
It wasn't all that long ago that Dr. Kirk Langstrom fought alongside his wife Francine Langstrom in Batman's Outsiders team. But lately something has changed. New powers and abilities have manifested themselves and the monster known as Man-Bat believes that Kirk Langstrom may be lost forever. All that is left is the fanged and winged monster capable of devouring his loved ones at a moment's notice. So the former Doctor Langstrom has retreated to the bat-infested swamplands of
Louisiana so that he may prevent anything bad from happening to his family at his own hands. The last thing he wanted now was a reunion with some of his former teammates. Unfortunately his choice of location for his little sabbatical happens to be the same place recent Arkham escapee Killer Croc has retreated to in order to hide from Batman's Outsiders and remove the poisonous technology hidden inside of him by the Black Mask.
Man-Bat decides to send a message to the Outsiders to stay away and swoops in on them. Their battle takes them all to the depths of the Bayou where Killer Croc is hiding. Croc, still in the process of regrowing his arm after gnawing it off earlier, retreats with Man-Bat while the Outsiders regroup. Unfortunately Halo is nowhere to be found and worse yet, Katana has become separated from her Soulcatcher sword!
The two monsters strike up a sort of camaraderie and decide to turn the tables on their hunters. Tracking down the Outsiders, Man-Bat summons a legion of blood-thirsty bats to attack the heroes. But just then Halo emerges, carrying Soulcatcher! Using her power of light manipulation she
disperses the bats and knocks out Croc. Though Man=Bat is able to escape her rays the team at least has the inmate they came for and decide to return to Batman's temporary holding cells. Though while he is being carted away, Croc asks the Creeper just how long before Jack Ryder is as lost inside there as Kirk Langstrom was in Man-Bat? How much longer until the Outsiders are hunting him down?
Creeper pays him no attention as the secure transfer unit (on loan from Belle Reve) makes its way back to Gotham. Unfortunately the Outsiders' temporary prison center is under
siege! Owlman, Black Lightning, Metamorpho and Geo-Force brace themselves as the ground and walls begin to shake ferociously! Suddenly the outside wall gives way and reveals something that Geo-Force can hardly believe! It's his late-sister Tara, returned as a Black Lantern!
