I imagine that's the general design that they're going for, similiar to classic venom, but highly influenced by the Spidey costume; I imagine that that's is genuine concept art from the quality, and from the fact that it surficed after July, I think it might be proof their working on the design, the one in the trailer is indeed a red hairing.

Like I said, the one in the trailer was a red-hairing meant to provent people from getting their hands on the real design; unfortunatly it looks like someone has loose lips and is going to get the chopping block for this.

both the pic and comic con snippet look pretty sweet. As far as if they are real or not, who knows. People have to remember that now and days, NOTHING IS SAFE. Fake or not, someone, somewhere will slip and let out something they shouldn't. Personally I think that the first image could be real, just not completely polished and completed. I don't have any insiders tho so I wouldnt know

Well, I know enough about Raimi to understand how his mind works; And he really seems to want Venom to be the big secret of the trilogy, so far he's pulled out all the stops,
1. Telling us Venom would never be in a Spidey movie as long as he was directing.
2. Telling no one, not even Topher Grace, that Brock was being cast.
3. Not showing us Venom in the Teaser Trailer or the New Trailer.
Now he has every thing to gain from releasing a fake Venom; but the questions we should ask our selves are, "If Raimi is so open about the Venom design, why would he cut that shot from the wide spread version of the trailer?", and of course, "If Raimi is so honest, why'd he go on record saying that the Venom at comic-con was legit, and a few months later get caught with new concept art that doesn't look like the Venom in the the trailer?"
Now I'm not saying that that shot isn't making it into the movie, it could actually be a midpoint between Brock and Venom; but Raimi is disguising it as the final Venom design.

First of all please spell it properly "red herring." A herring is a kind of fish. Although "red hairing" conjures visions of people randomly running up to people on the street and dyeing their hair red. That just make me laugh to think about (it's early and I'm under-caffeinated).
Next, don't you think that there is just the slightest possiblity that the image from the trailer is an early computer graphics effect. The video it is in is full of early renderings of Spider-man, so couldn't it be plausible that that is just an early rendering of Venom without the "skin" that would make up the webbing.
Last, go try to find Plastic Man: On the Lam. Plastic Man faces his greatest nemesis the Red Herring. Really funny story, you won't regret it. Apparently nothing is sacred to Kyle Baker, not even Batman's obsession with stopping crime.

First, sorry about the misspell.
Second, whether it was an early design, a fake, or anything else is irellivent; all that matters is that Sam Raimi went on record saying it was the final design when it wasn't.
And when I said it was a hoax, I ment as the final design; not as being part of the film in anyway.

Anyway, I'm sure hope the Venom design isn't the only preliminary effect in that shot; not a single texture on the symbiote resembles one used in the footage with Parker.

Maybe he takes his jacket off before going into the church. Could be bad editing.
Have we had confirmation that this is the last movie Raimi intends to happen? It judst dawned on me how much it would suck for the scene that xForeverxKnightx posted was the very end of the movie. Of course, if they had actually been filming 4 at the same time to come out in '08 and focus on Venom, that would be cool.

I don't know if this is his last, but I hear that he, Tobey, and many others are willing to return. And few people have said that, while the movie comes to many conclusions for the series, this movie will not be the end of the story, so if their is a wish to return they can.
Don't worry about that being the last scene in the film, Raimi probably won't reveal anything like that just yet (Remember that the Spoiler filled trailers for Spider-man 2 weren't released until a few months before the movie.) and the fact that the cast, even those not well versed in the comics, refers to Eddie as "Venom" suggests he will be in this one.
And even if Venom isn't in this movie, that would mean that Raimi is definitely coming back for a fourth, he wouldn't leave the franchise at a point like that.

I don't know if anyone knows this but that shot of Brock becoming Venom was at Comic Con in July. It was blurry but that was what they showed. Also, Venom IS in the movie because we, and everyone on the planet, knows he is. Not just by that clip, but the wallpaper of Brock being covered by Venom and those shots of the black webbings.
Besides if they released this and that Venom did turn out to be false and wasn't in thsid movie as everyone wanted, do you think the film would still get positive remarks? I doubt it, for many it would be a disappointment and thus affect the box office.
So Venom is in 3.
