That first manip has a little Brandon Lee/The Crow look to it. Pretty cool.

I'll wait and see how it is. Not my first choice for the joker. I hope than nolan knows what he is doing. if not, it could ruin the movie.

I hate to say, Ledger just doesn't seem fitting in any way I look at it. He's not that unknown; he's been in plenty of big movies the past few years and I hear his name quite a bit. I always thought he seemed like the "heart throb" type, and facially, he doesn't fit the bill of what most of us would consider a Joker look (long nose and chin, etc.). Not to say Nicholson had that type of face. I haven't seen much of Ledger's work, but in that aspect, I would imagine he's rather talented.

Cesar Romero was a Latino hearthrob before he became The Joker in 1966. Granted, he was no Nicholson, and he was approaching old age by the time the 1966 series aired, but I thought he handled the job well, especially in his first outing (before the producers ruined it).

I have not had much opinion on this, though I am impressed with Andrew Koenig's work. The others listed above also sound good to me, too.

The thing we have to do is ignore public status, as that can somtimes get in the way of our judgment.

A good example is Leonardo DiCaprio, the guy was a heart-throbe in the 90's, and I hated him for it, I was tired of seeing his mug on every magazine. But now I've seen a couple of his movies, and I realized he's not just a good actor, He's a ****ing good actor!

So ignore the public status of the actors who is cast for the project, and watch there movies to see whether or not they're good.

First Welcome! Glad to see your making yourself at home! I think you'll enjoy the site.

Second, I agree about ignoring Public Status. What we have to remember, most of the time, the actors have to actually act in front of the director, so in his case, Heath would have to act like the joker in front of Nolan. So, if Nolan, who gave us the masterpeice that is Batman Begins (which by the way killed Superman at the box office) then lets trust him.

Third.. Leonardo DiCaprio is a punk..LOL, there is only one movie I can stand him in, and that's The Man In The Iron Mask.

Exactly, Heath can only screw up to a certain degree, because Nolan won't exept it, and if Peter Jackson could make Jack Black work well in a drama, then Ledger will definatly work.

And I used to find Leo Dio anoying, until I saw pieces of his prefomances in "The Aviator", "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and a third movie I can't remember the title of.

I'm a bit of a Heath fan so this makes me happy.

In some ways, yeah other actors fit that ideal Batman we all have in our minds, but sometimes the actors we don't expect end up being the best choices.

Jack Nicholson doesn't come off as the Joker to me at first, but when you see him do it it was pretty damn good.

Christian Bale, in both his looks and his past roles, I never would've cast as Batman. But he was a great Batman.

So I have no qualms with this choice.

Nicholson wasn't playing The Joker, he was playing a giddy Jack Nicholson in clown make up, in fact until Begins the each movie had a villain who seemed typecast to there actor, The Joker was a giddy Nicholson, The Penguin was a menacing Danny DeVito, The Riddler was Jim Carey in spandex and Mr. Freeze was Arnold in a crappy suit of armor.

And all the characters who weren't typecast were screwed up any way, Catwoman was a crazy secritary instead of a cat burgalar with a devil may care attitude, Two-Face was Campy Bi-Polar instead of a tragic case of split personality, Bane was a stupid zombie like muscle man instead of a cunning warrior, Ivy was more of an over the top forties celebrity bombshell than a sexy botanist gone made over the mistreatment of plants.

Not until we got a drama dirtector using character actors did we get the characters from the pages of the comics, and that probably means we are in good hands.

i agree with the above post...though i do still think heath is a good choice for joker.

i have this image of his smiling in one of his movies, some teen type movie that he was in, he had this huge smile and i just keep picturing him with it in white make up....

My Prediction for appearance- The first manip comes the closest except I`d like him to have some darkness around the eyes, his hair not that long (at least styled like that) however the color is perfect, a very very dark purple suit almost black and there we have our man. Whether that all be major or minor changes we`ve already seen the joker in every other way on screen so i guess it`d be nice to see a new version.

He'll definitly have make-up, and what Nolan was probably refering to is the fact that every major on screen Joker until now has had comedy as a major part of the character, but with this one he's going to remove that and make him a dark and desturbing character.

I hate all this anti-Ledger s***, "Oh my God, he played a homosexual, so he's going to make The Joker gay!"

Watch a damn movie with him in it and see whether or not he's a good actor, instead of going on with this homophobic s***.
And believe it or not, some actors have a range of abilities, you know instead of the range of Will Farrel who acts stupid all the
time in every single movie, the range of an actor like Johnny Depp; who has seldom played two characters who are similar.
So just because Ledger was gay in a movie, doesn't mean he's going to be gay in every other movie.

Yes, I do realize some of you are joking, but people have gone there so many times it's just not funny.
