I was disapointed that there is no Directors Commentary! But wait! WB is ingenius, now they can put in all the stuff I know they have in later and release the DVD again, so we buy it all over again just like with the Animated shows and Movies.
Hats off to Goyer & Nolan, but I still dont have to like WB...

WB sucks..
BTW, Nolan hates to do Commentaries, so thats why there isn't one.

I was also disappointed that there was no commentary. Nolan may not like doing them, but he needs to suck it up and do it, since the people buying this DVD are the people who made it possible for him to have this job in the first place. At the least, there could have been a technical crew commentary. Some of the most interesting tidbits come from those.
The DVD is decent overall, but nothing spectacular. The special features were better than average, especially considering how WB usually does such a lousy job with DVD extras. The "interactive" comic is nothing to do backflips over, but it does look nice. To be honest, though, this is one of those rare movies for which I would have bought a bare-bones DVD, if that were the only thing available. I've been watching a bad bootleg for months now, so it's great to have the real DVD. I haven't been able to watch the whole movie again yet, but the fight scenes are MUCH, MUCH easier to follow than they were in the theatres. I forgot that some stores offer incentives to buy the DVD from them, so I preordered it from amazon and didn't get squat.
I second the complaints about the narrow focus of the comic documentary, but it really was focusing more on the stories that influenced the filmmakers than a comprehensive history of the comics. A documentary more along those lines can be found on the Batman '89 disc.

I don't mind that the documentary focused on the comics that influenced the film. Those are the ones people want to see mentioned anyway. It bothered me that they took close to 5 minutes of a 15 minute documentary to talk about All Star Batman and Robin, when that title didn't come out until nearly 2 months after the movie was released in theaters. It killed the documantary for me when it turned into advertising.

I just find it odd that All-Star Batman is supposed to be the comic that appeals to the mainstream, when it's depiction of Batman is so extreme and psychotic that it's certain to turn most non-comics readers off if they pick it up. I've been enjoying it, but mainly because I wasn't expecting it to be the be-all, end-all version of Batman that most seem to have wanted. When most people think of Batman, I imagine that they don't picture a maniac who sets cops aflame with his afterburner and curses at small children. I think it's a good book, but it's the wrong one to use to try to bridge the gap between comics readers and the mainstream. I found the final part of the documentary amusing for that reason.

i agree with Drunken Fist, this would have been one of the few movies i would have bought "bare bones". Unless you're a die hard Batman fan who is really interested in cinematic details, i wouldnt recomment buying the special edition. As a matter of fact, 2 people i know just bought the standard movie edition because they saw some of the bonuses at my place and wasnt impressed. They found them kind of boring. The only ones i was really interested in was the suit and car features. Everything else was just a repeat of what most of us has either seen or read thru the months leading up to the release of the film.

Very true. I'm glad we got at least SOME extra material rather than none, but they could've done a better job.
And...I may be wrong but on the Joker card evidence bag I think it says "Harlequin". Someone else check it out and tell me if I'm right.

J. Kerr stands for John Kerr who I believe is an actor, which I mentioned on the previous page
"I went around the world, searched in all the shadows. And there is something out there in the darkness, something terrifying, something that will not stop until it gets revenge... Me"

No, you may be right. The Joker also used the name "Joe Kerr" as an alias in the comic books. |

First.. there was no deleted scenes. Period.
Second, yes there should have been better commentaries, but thats why we'll get a Special Edition in a year or so.

do i sense some tension in your post? lol.
see, thats what p#sses me off. WB should have just released a one time big bonus DVD. not a regular movie version, a bonus disk special version, and maybe a special collectors super bonus edition version in the future. and this goes for all movie studios. its all about the money. plain and simple. the bonus dvd's are, imo, aimed at true fans. they shouldnt take advantage of their love for a movie or character by doing this particular practice in dvd releases.

They're not selilng the Deluxe Version over here, but I'm happy enough with the 2-disc version. Sadly, Tankman Begins wasn't included on the Region 2 version. Everything else was cool, though. We all laughed when we heard Christian joke about 'Fatman Begins'.
