From The Hollywood Reporter, October 18th will not only be the release date for Batman Begins and The Batman Vs. Dracula, but also the DVD gift set of the original 4 Batman movies. You'll not only be able to buy the set,"Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology 1989-1997", but also buy the 4 Special Edition, 2-disc DVD's seperately. A good day for Bat-fans, don't you think?

OK, after tryign to get here, I'm finally here to give more good, but bad news.
From THE DIGTAL BITS:
7/28/05
Okay... a quick follow-up on yesterday's Batman news. We've confirmed with sources in the know that the new 2-disc Batman Forever DVD will NOT include a new director's cut as previously rumored. It was apparently something that was considered, but we're told it ultimately didn't happen. Just FYI.
Source: http://www.thedig...mill.html
I loved Batman Forever but would have loved to have seen this director's cut. Whats wrong with Warner? Don't they know that people will pay good money to see the director's cut?! Can someone explain that?
From - http://www.bbfc.c...
What will be on the DVD:
BATMAN BEGINS - REFLECTIONS ON WRITING 1m 55s
BATMAN BEGINS - DVD - GENESIS OF THE BAT 14m 52s
BATMAN BEGINS - DVD - EASTER EGG #3 - WAYNE TECH 2m 28s
BATMAN BEGINS - DVD - SHAPING MIND AND BODY 12m 48s
BATMAN BEGINS - DVD - BATMAN - THE JOURNEY BEGINS 14m 15s

Can't tell if a commentary is in order. But we'll soon find out.
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.

The guys at the Superman Homepage have been trying to get the Richard Donnor cut of Superman II, they haven't been successful for several years. Warner Bros seems to like to hang on to stuff like that as long as possible.
I figure once the Batman movie popularity goes on the rise again we will see some of this stuff. I am glad that we are at least getting good dvd versions of the movies.

Maybe, but I wanted to the REAL Batman Forever, not the chopped up stuff that was released. Plus it gives me lees incentive to even see Batman Forever (not that I liked the movie that much to begin with).

I would expect a Directors Cut of Batman Begins a few months after the first release. They seem to do that to breathe new life into the DVD sales.

The Digital Bits confirmed that there will be a Nolan/Goyer commentary on the Begins DVD. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html Those featurettes don't seem like they'll fill up a whole second disk, so maybe they are planning a director's cut release.

I was gonna pick up "forever" to check out the new cut, but if it's the same film as before, I'll pass on it. the only ones I'll get for sure-- aside from "Begins," of course-- are the Burton films. for all of the flaws in "Returns," I can still enjoy it as a good movie if I ignore the fact that it's supposed to be Batman.

Correction, seven things to get on the 18th. Here's the latest one:
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that the studio will release The Batman: The 1943 Serial Collection DVD on October 18 at a price of $29.95.
The series was shown in theaters that year and starred Lewis Wilson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Douglas Croft as Richard 'Dick' Grayson/Robin, J. Carrol Naish as Dr. Tito Daka and Shirley Patterson as Linda Page.
Each chapter ended in a cliffhanger leading up to the next episode.
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.
(crack!)
And I'm the surgeon.

Well I did see the '43 serial, well one episode, the last. And the whole thing of 1949. Both were good in their own resecptive ways. But like the '60s show which needs credit for at least saving the comics, you have to respect the fact that this is the first film incarnation of Batman. So you're gonna see stuff that isn't him now, and you're gonna see him do what he doesn't do today. But vice versa for the stuff he does do and known for it.
On a side note, anybody who's anybody knows the '43 serial inside and out. And knows how Batman and Robin were protrayed and acted in that time. Don't worry, its still good.....again, in its own way.
You don't get it, boy... this isn't a mudhole... it's an operating table.
