Many of you don't like the board being. I want to know why?
This is the same forum, but now instead of four places to post news, and register, there is one.

Well I think you know my problem with the board. It's too seperated. I mean it's soo much scrolling. Granted I know you are trying to cover everything DCU, but look at a site like the "Worlds Finest." They just have one section for everything DCU Animated. Things can be organized and condense. But you already know, but maybe people will agree.

I can see where your coming from.. but then we'll have ones that say, "Why can't we just have a The Batman board, or why can't we just have a Superman Returns board?
I'm not saying we won't be doing more condensing, but we wanted to make sure we covered everything first.

I honestly can?t understand anyone having a problem with DCUYTB. As BYTB grew over the years it became the largest single Internet Site for Batman. We have a huge database of Batman memorabilia and collectibles, we have items that no other site has. As time goes by we will do the same for other DC properties.
Then Beyond decided to expand and add Superman and Wonder Woman to the mix. The problem was that WWYTB and SYTB were different sites and we had to duplicate News for all the sites rather than just post it once in a central location. Because of the way the Boards Forum Engine is we could not have multiple Forums on one site.
This led to DCUYTB. It allowed us to move BYTB and WWYTB together to one place. You the Members have one central Log In to the entire DCU rather than having to Log On to and Off of the different sites. So you can post about Batman and then move to a Superman or Wonder Woman Thread without opening new Browser Windows and Log Ins. It?s so simple and so easy.
Unlike before when BYTB had been hacked, we lost nothing. Everything stayed and now everyone will be together. We now have over 600 Members, most of them (about 550) were BYTB only, but we did pick up some new WWYTB Members as well. As DCUYTB expands we will surely pick up Aquaman and The Flash fans as these franchises begin to get more media exposure.
After watching Marvel dominate at the Box Office with X-Men, Spider-man, Daredevil and The Hulk, it?s nice to see DC back in the spotlight again. Batman Begins and Superman Returns are just the beginning and DCUYTB will be there to support this new renaissance in DC Characters.
Welcome aboard everybody, it?s going to be a great ride!

Me I love it. I know it is dang hard running a website. It is also hard to make everybody happy. It takes time , money and dedication to keep these things running. We should all be very grateful that this site is here. So the way I see it is folks need to stop crying and start helping making this the greatest Site there is!

DCUYTB is the same as BYTB. We actually copied every thread over and then added to that to become DCUYTB.
DCUYTB is BYTB on steroids.

Same here, I think DCUYTB is a good evolution for the site. The only real change is that this encourages even more fans to join us. If you want to stick with Batman stuff only, do what I do - don't read the other DCU threads. |

i agree with spencer and i said as much in the shoutbox. this really isnt a big deal. just post in the threads and browse the forums which interest you. likeiwise pay no mind to whatever you dont care for, simple solution.
think of it this way, back when it was just BYTB (or WWYTB if thats the site/forum you prefered) did you honestly post in each thread in every forum? if so then you deserve an award, but odds are you probably didnt. its the same concept now, not every aspect of the site/forum will pique your interest and thats fine, we dont expect it to. and lets all remember nothing here has changed in the sense that anything has been lost, weve just added more to what we already had.
we took something good and made it great. whatever you liked about the old sites and forums are still there, theres just more in addition to it. and hey give it time, you might just change your mind
i know not everyone is a fan of each and every character and etc of the DCU, hell ill admit even im not, but this is a place for everyone to feel welcome and enjoy whatever interests them. so lets everybody play nice ok?

Ok, you asked for it.
1. First you might want to remail all the people who haven't come back from the WW board the password sent was incorrect (at least in my case).
2. It seems that every page but the first page has scrolling issues (left to right wise) I am at 1024 so it should be a problem on my end.
3. The main forum page is VERY confusing. Each category has a squished description when 99% of the time it isn't needed. Then you have the heroes all over the place. I think from the way you were previously set up (BM, WW and Supes boards) you might want to reorganize it into those sections, then the rest of the DCU. Would let the BM people more easily concentrate on their heroes, etc. Also does each forum need it's own huge graphic? Then again those might look fine if the descriptions weren't spacing it apart so much.
4. the RSS Feeds link... doesn't really need to be in the upper right corner, people who look for these are used to looking for small text links in the copyright section. It would be more useful to me to have the user section up there so PM's and so forth would be on top.
5. Resolve the WW contest. Either cancel it or something. You had people (including me to be frank) who joined cause the contest sounded cool. Since it didn't go over like you wanted you changed the date AFTER it was over. People didn't lynch you. My own website isn't nearly as large as yours in way of forums and I thought it was a cool idea, but since I didn't have any extra seasons or movies to give away I can't do it. I am sure I am not the only one who noticed this. I remember Elvis mentioning it. I have run message boards since 1985 (yes 1985, on BBS's before the internet) and currently run 2 smallish boards, one with 10 or so users so far and a business only one that's users while small (400 or so) spend over $100,000 every week. I just want you to know I am not just a buttinsky (I love that word even if I cna't spell it) but someone who has done this for a while.
Good luck,
Rich.

Thanks for your honest response.
As for the Contest, I emailed a winner, and haven't heard back.. I am drawing a new name tomorrow. I will announce it here. It only includes those who joined the WW board. I didn't forget, I got busy. It's a bad habit.

Thats the only thinkg I'm not sure about. My screen is set at the same, most peoples are, so their shouldn't be much scrolling, except for the posts with big pics.

I will do that.

Thats just a matter of sites. I've seen some sites that just have a text link on the top, or bottom, and I've seen bigger images then we have.
Thanks again Hardcopi, I really do appericate your honest opinion. This is stuff we will look at.
