Newsarama.com has a nice interview with Adam Beechen, the writer of Robin after One Year Later. Karl Kerschl will be doing the art. Read the interview, it has some interesting stuff.

The highlights:

Some changes that are coming:
1.The person in the Robin suit will be very familiar to DC readers.
2. Robin will be returning to Gotham City as the character?s primary base of operations.
3. Robin?s costume will be modified.
4. Robin will remain a member of the Titans ("so I guess it?s safe to say the character will remain a teen"wink. The book will reflect Titans continuity more than in the past.
5. Robin?s relationship with Batman, at least to start, will be "somewhat strained, owing to something Robin has done. In fact, a number of heroes will be wary of Robin, and with good reason."

also:
Finally, all ?continuity?/status quo question aside, we asked the television writer to give us his ?Hollywood pitch? for Robin the ongoing series as if he were explaining it to someone who has never heard of Infinite Crisis or ?One Year Later?. We even went so far as to ask him to pitch it to someone who?s never even heard of ?Batman & Robin??

His response..?

?Teenage CSI.?

Just when I was planning to drop the title because of the abyssmal run by Willingham, things look like they could be going back to the cool status that Chuck Dixon brought in the beginning. I guess that I'll have to give this guy a chance.

I read that, too. It sounds cool. Every writer we've had on the book has just made me miss Chuck Dixon. Sure, there have been some good moments, but nothing like when Chuck was on the book. Honestly, chuck took a character I had never liked, and made him interesting enough that I bought 100+ issues of his solo comic. That's a pretty big feat. Beechen has done some good stuff-- I've only read a few issues of JLU, but they were all good. I like Kerschl's art, but I do find myself wiching McDaniel was sticking around. BTW, Robin will still be Tim. Period.

I was wondering who would end up as Robin, especially with their specific lack of pronouns.

I'm not positive who the new Robin is (if it's not Tim Drake) but the new Robin costume design is amazing! I hope they keep it in continuity because the new look outdoes the former costume. It's very reminiscent of the later episodes of B:TAS. Check it out...

This is the best Robin costume yet!

That looks better than the first image I saw of the new costume. In the first image, the cape was green instead of black, whereas this looks much better. I like it a lot.

I really don't like the new suit. I never liked the one on TNBA, so this still looks bad to me. The Teen Titans cover is way better than the Robin cover, which sucks because that means that Robin is probably getting another bad artist. That titles has been plagued with them recently. Scott McDaniel is doing well now, but he only has a couple more issues.

If you read the March Robin issue's solicitation, Robin has been accused of murder. Anyone have any theories?

I saw the Robin cover and I intentionally avoided it. It makes the cape, gloves, and boots look green. I thought the TT cover was much cooler.

As for Robin murder theories...I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Tim did kill. Though it would likely be unintentional. But then again, we don't even know if this new Robin is Tim.

That Robin costume rules! Finally, a dark Robin costume!

This is what I've been trying to convince people of!! Robin can be a dark character and fit into Batman's world. This new costume works, period. Now we'll see if the character fits Gotham.
I'm very excited for this version of Robin!

I was wondering when Phil was gonna chime in on this Robin thread.big grin

That's my understanding. DC has said that this Robin may be somebody else but if it is, it's someone familiar to readers. I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

Not this time, thankfully. The new artist is Karl Kerchl, from Rucka's Adv. of Superman. He's not one of my favorites, but he is good.

Wouldn't be the first time. Tim accidentally killed Johnny Warlock at the beginning of the current Willingham run.

I hope this Robin isn't Tim, just for fun. Tim's been Robin longer than I've been alive!

I didn't need to hear that. Y'Know, some of us were around before Jason Todd even came on the scene (and that includes the Grayson-clone version of Todd). Smile

Yeah, I didn't either. You do know that Dick was Robin from 1940 until 1984. I don't have a problem with Tim remaining Robin.

I don't know if they will change characters, but I really can't come up with another character that we are familiar with who could replace him. Unless it is like Connor Kent or something.
