You don't think they look like paintings? I personally think they do! I think they look like paintings as we generally know them.

They certainly don't look digital to me - but I'm not totally sure what a digital painting is............

I like them. Different, but good.

Yeah, they do look like paintings. They look kinda thick brush and a bit watery - I wouldnt have recognised them as being PC art (but I don't know I'd be the best person to ask).

Those are pretty cool, nice work!

The second one looks almost like a photographic negative the way you did it (with the dark foreground and light sky), I like the effect.

The only thing that makes them not seem like real paintings is how a lot of the lines aren't perfectly smooth like genuine paint strokes. For example, the outlining of the cape in the first image is pretty bumpy. But they do have a very soft look and nice gradients like water colors. I think the first one turned out great in terms of general illustrating, and I like how you took advantage of being able to make ligher buildings toward the distance in the second one. Seems like this would be fun to experiment with more.

thanks for all the good comments!

in my art class, we're painting stuff. i'd really like to paint a batman picture or something, but i dont have the tools to do so...so i just used photoshop and did my best to immitate it, lol.

we've done water coloring, now we're using opaque painting. painting is awesome! with all this photoshop stuff, u dont really need pencils or paint brushes anymore. i really hope that even as these programs become better in the future, the regular tools will still be used.

Yeah, I've been wondering about that myself. But I think the genuine artists will always keep the physical tools in use to some degree.

I took almost every art class in high school, but I never got around to Painting. I'm much more in favor of drawing, but painting has its fine qualities and would probably be good for me to experiment with more.
