it's of coures batman! the cowl looks a little like wolvie but does that look like wolverine or christian bale!

That's a very nice painting. It has a great Christian Bale likeness. I really don't think it was supposed to remind us of Wolverine though. Other than the wide ears, there's not much similarity. Wolvie's mask doesn't cover the chin like that or come down to the chest in a web design. He also has three blades, not four, and his gloves never had Batman's three spikes as far as I remember. Also notice the year. It was most likely done before the actual costume design was released, so maybe they assumed it would look more like a bat. Looks excellent.

Like I said, this was done a year or so before the film hit theatres, so this was probably the artist's hopes for the costume design. You're probably right that it took influence from the Wolverine costume; I just don't think it's supposed to be a Batman/Wolvie combo. Then again there's not really a big difference...

its a batman ninja. batman is already a ninja, but i guess this is more traditional or something. or maybe its a what if batman in the x-men.

Well I don't see a Bat on his chest or a cape. It looks a lot like the X-Men costume to me.
