Al Hackett was a fugitive on the run from the Gotham Police and Batman & Robin. As the Boy Wonder trailed Hackett to his hideout, Batman investigated the criminal's mountain lodge. Upon entering, the caped crusader was overcome by fumes emitted by a rare potted plant hailing from the Amazon rain forest. As a result, Batman hallucinated that he had slept for twenty years, awaking like Rip Van Winkle to find a sleeker, Shinier Gotham and an adult Robin, now Batman, aided by a blond Boy Wonder. As the fumes wore off, Batman saw his youthful partner, and realized it had all been a waking dream. Robin happily announced that he had apprehended Hacket while his mentor was incapacitated.
