Most of the time, a movie is released, then if it's a hit, a series can evolve. However in the case BATMAN: The Movie, it was the other way around. Alfred that BATMAN would not do good, FOX, ordered that the series premiers before the movie. Fox, would have to solely budget a motion picture, but would only have to partially fund a series. Fox not only waited two months after the show aired, they waited to see if BATMAN was a fad or not. Finally the day came for the movie to be greenlit and produced.
The film would include of course Batman, Robin, Alfred, Gordon, and Chief O'Hara.
However, the movies villain would not be one, nor two, but four. Joker, Catwoman, Penguin and Riddler would head up the criminal cast, and try their hardest to wreak havoc on the Dynamic Duo.
Although it was not a huge success, (some people believe that Batman was never meant to be on the big screen) That did not stop the show.
Now 35 years later, FOX is bringing BATMAN: The Movie back. The new DVD is hitting stores on August 21st. And with it, will bring new features, and never seen before on video footage.
