Kory and Ellen team up to go after Buddy and find a way to get up to the ship. Along the way they run into Adam Strange and Aleea. With the use of Adam's blaster gun they are able to pierce the containment dome and gain access to the Healers' mother ship. Once aboard they rescue Animal Man and use the Zeta Beam to go back to Rann to re-charge Kory so she can save Earth. With Animal Man gone the Healers decide that there is no chance to cure the virus of Earth so they send out the "Sterilizers"...

Forerunner (needing the ship to catch up to Monarch) says that if they want the ship, they'll have to go through her. Forerunner and the Thanagarian challenger, Golden Eagle travel to a planet called Saleth to do battle for the ship. Forerunner defeats Golden Eagle and claims Golden Eagle himself as her trophy as is customary for the Forerunner race. Back on the ship, the Thanagarians let Forerunner keep Golden Eagle and Forerunner reveals to Golden Eagle that he will be her sex slave. Still on the trail of Monarch, the Iron Raider arrives at the Source Wall.
