PLOT:
Standing amongst the ruins of the once great planet of Oa, Mon-El and Shadow Lass bear witness as the final Green Lantern, Sodam Yat procedes with burrying the fallen
Rond Vidar.
Ever since Mogo the moral compass of the Green Lantern Corps was defeated, the rings of the fallen Green Lanterns are left without anoyone to guide them to a new
worthy candidate. As the last of the Lanterns, Sodam Yat possess the power of Ion and is kept ageless as the Guardians once were - forced to watch while all those he loved aged and died. He himself would
take charge of the Corps but he worries that his soul has become stained in this extended lifetime and that his corrupted essence would lead the rings to deviance.
Having spent a thousand years in the Phantom Zone in order to stave off lead poisoning, Mon-El is no stranger to a life of loneliness and empathizes with the Green Lantern. He relays the story of how
Braniac-5 recently retrieved him from the zone and cured him - offering to extend the same cure Sodam Yat, a Daxamite also suffering from lead poisoning.
Inspired by Mon-El's lifetime in the Phantom Zone and learning that Legion is facing off against none other than Superboy-Prime, the foe who first inflicted him with lead poisoning, Sodam Yat agrees to join them. He
summons the power of the great battery and surrounds himself with the re-awakened rings of his fallen comrades as he prepares for battle. The Green Lantern Corps will live again!
Over a thousand years in the past, Polar Boy is heading up the team of himself, Wildfire and Dawnstar on their mission in the 20th Century. Per Braniac-5's instructions, they find themselves
in Smallville, childhood home of Clark Kent. But it isn't the Kent farm they are visiting. They instead find themselves at the home of Lex Luthor on a very special day - the day in which Lex Luthor began losing his hair. Polar Boy
and the others sneak into the teenage Lex's bed room and acquire a single hair from his pillow,
successfully achieving their mission.
With one mission complete, the Legion continues to fend off Superboy and the Super-Villains in Metropolis at the Daily Planet library. Superman takes the
initiative to launch Superboy up into space with him, using the time away from battle to try and
connect with whatever human soul is left within the brat. He tries to remind Superboy of his family and friends that loved him back on Earth-Prime but the plan backfires - Superboy Prime throws a tantrum and fries a hole
in Superman's hand out of anger. He then freezes Clark and sends him flying off into the distance with a single punch.
With Superboy away, the Legion of Super-Villains heads towards the United Planets Council headed by Earth-Man and Ol-Vir. The leader of the Justice League of Earth then declares that all those who had opposed him shall be sentenced to
death. Karate Kid, once a member of the Legion and now serving on the Planets
Council stands up to Earth-Man but is killed before he can mount much of a
resistance. Luckily, the rest of the Legion, including Element Lad, the
Ultra-Men, three Phantom Girls and Ferro are able to defeat the villains thanks
to Ferro's transmutation of his body into pure lead to poison the Daxamite Ol-Vir.
At this point the three Legions begin to get acquainted with one another. The Legion of Earth-Zero (also known as the keystone Earth) is introduced to their alternates from Earth-247 as well as their younger counterparts which
Braniac identifies as being from an Earth "vital to this war." But the introductions will have to wait because time is of the essence in completing Braniac-5's three phase plan for defeating Superboy.
With the union of the Legions and Polar Boy's trip to the 20th Century serving as phases one and three respectively, Braniac and the others
must now rush off to complete phase two. For that he will require all of the Lightning powered heroes along with the gravity controlling Light Lass and
the speedster XS whom Braniac reveals is actually from cornerstone Earth. Thanks to the multiversal
anomaly Gates, the Legion is able to quickly travel back to their base and begin phase two.
Far away, Superboy returns from his battle with Superman to find Mordru and Univero standing by while the villains continue to defeat the remaining heroes. Mordru is
summoning Shadow Demons in an attempt to lure out the only person capable of stopping them - his escaped prisoner White Witch. But as Superboy
attempts to burn down the Avenue of Heroes, Superman returns alongside the members of the Legion of 3-Worlds not currently helping Braniac. Their mission, aided by the arrival of
Sodam Yat, is to keep Superboy occupied while Braniac and the variations of the Ranzz twins finish the second phase at the Legion's headquarters.
Superman's plan fails however when Saturn Queen manages to pass through one telepathic message warning Superboy of the Legion's plot. He bursts out of his restraints and head towards the
Legion HQ while the Fatal Five, under direction from Cosmic King, begin focusing their energies on dismantling the Legion's force fields. Along the way, one of the Sun Boys tries to stop Superboy but is killed during the attempt. His death reverberates
throughout
the land, being felt by his alternate the 'burnt-out' Dirk Morgna who had since quit the Legion.
Back at the Legion base, Braniac-5's plan is near completion. Racing on the cosmic treadmill, XS begins to break down the speed force itself. Powered by the combined electrical charges of the Ranzz
siblings and
kept from creating a singularity that would destroy the universe by Light Lass, Braniac supplies the final ingredient for his formula in the form of the
Lightning Rod he once retrieved from the 21st Century. Just then a brilliant flash of electricity fills the room.
At that same moment, Super-Boy Prime bursts through the final barrier and into the Legion's headquarters. He arrives just in time to bare witness to the return of the boy who once held him captive in the Speed Force for so long - Bart Allen, Kid Flash!
