Continued From Justice Society of America #21

PLOT:
Gog offers his herald Magog one final opportunity to bow down and worship him but Magog refuses. Before Gog can rescind his gift of life from David, the rest of the Justice Society jumps into action and begins attacking the giant deity. Damage clears the Society away before letting loose a gigantic explosion, but to no avail. Gog remains standing, taunting them all. It isn't until Nate Heywood peels back his energy restricting metallic armor and begins pounding on Gog's legs that the imposing figure topples to the ground.

The Society bands together, holding Gog in place while Magog uses his energy staff to sever the god's head. Superman and Starman open up a boom tube and deliver Gog's head to the source wall - the place where old gods are memorialized. In his final moments, Gog accuses Superman of leaving his own world (Earth-22) to die. Knowing that the god is right, Superman has Starman locate Earth-22 on his Multiversal map and returns to his home.

Starman too returns to his home on New Earth to find that the Justice Society members have all reverted to their previous states now that Gog is gone. Only David Reid remains as he was as Magog much to the puzzlement of the rest of the team. Meanwhile, the battle has allowed Nate Heywood to find peace with his unique situation - something that yet eludes Damage. But as Grant sulks away from the team, Sonia rushes over to comfort him. She pulls away the hands that he has obscuring his disfigured face and kisses him.

Upon returning to Earth-22, Superman finds himself back in the desolate wasteland that was his home. He heads to the United Nations building to punish those who dropped the bomb on his fellow super-heroes. Instead he too finds peace thanks to the Rev. Norman McKay who reminds him that his greatest strength lies not in his Kryptonian abilities but in his never faltering humanity and empathy for those he protects. Superman spares their lives and is shocked to find that his oldest friends - Wonder Woman, Batman and Green Lantern had all in fact survived.

Superman returns to Kansas and establishes a gigantic memorial for all those who lost their lives. He begins his life anew - starting a family with Wonder Woman. He continues to grow old protecting the human race and establishes what seems to be his own brand of the Justice Society - teaching future heroes how to behave. He watches as they go through tragedy and triumph and stands in silent awe as he watches humanity soar bravely into the future.
